The Israeli military announced that it conducted a series of airstrikes on Hezbollah “weapons storage facilities” in various locations across Lebanon on Saturday. According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), these strikes were aimed at disabling Hezbollah’s military capabilities.
Strikes Injure Civilians in Baalbek-Hermel Region
One of the airstrikes, which hit the outskirts of the town of Al-Kawakh in the Baalbek-Hermel governorate, resulted in the injury of four civilians, including three children. The Lebanese health ministry confirmed that all four victims were hospitalized due to the severity of their injuries.
Additional Strikes Reported in Baalbek
In another incident, the state-run Lebanese news agency NNA reported that a separate airstrike hit empty shops in the town of Sareen, located in Baalbek. No injuries were reported from this strike.
IDF Confirms Multiple Strikes Across Lebanon
The IDF confirmed that it carried out airstrikes in the Beqaa and Baalbek areas, specifically targeting Hezbollah’s weapons storage sites. In addition, it reported strikes on seven other locations in southern Lebanon, furthering its effort to weaken the militant group’s arsenal.
Hezbollah Claims Rocket Attacks on Israel
Earlier on Saturday, the IDF reported a barrage of 55 projectiles fired from Lebanon into northern Israeli territory. The projectiles, aimed at the Upper Galilee region, prompted a swift response from Israel.
Hezbollah, the Iran-backed militant group, claimed responsibility for shelling an Israeli military brigade headquarters in Yiftach Eliklit, northwest of Lake Tiberias, using “dozens of Katyusha rockets.”
Hezbollah Supports Gaza with Cross-Border Attacks
Hezbollah also claimed it carried out several attacks on Israeli military sites in northern Israel throughout the day. These assaults, which involved both rockets and drones, were described by the group as acts of solidarity with the Palestinian people in Gaza and their resistance efforts against Israel.
Ongoing Border Conflict Since October 7
The cross-border hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah have escalated since the war between Israel and Hamas began on October 7. There have been daily exchanges of fire along the Israel-Lebanon border, increasing concerns about a broader regional conflict.
