Ukraine has reported conducting its largest long-range drone strike of the conflict, targeting four Russian military airfields overnight. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy praised the strikes as “timely” and “accurate.”
According to the General Staff, the air bases hit were “Khalino,” “Savasleyka,” “Borisoglebsk,” and “Baltimor” in the Voronezh, Kursk, and Nizhniy Novgorod regions. The primary targets were fuel and lubricant warehouses, as well as aviation munitions. The full extent of the damage is still being assessed.
A Kyiv security source indicated that the strike aimed to disrupt Russia’s capability to conduct airstrikes against Ukraine. The exact impact of the attack is still under evaluation.
Zelenskiy expressed gratitude for the precise and effective drone operations, noting their success in countering Russian airfield capabilities.
Earlier, Russia’s defense ministry reported intercepting 117 drones and four tactical missiles launched by Ukraine across several regions, including Kursk.
This development comes as Ukrainian forces continue their efforts in Russia’s Kursk region following a recent surprise operation that has resulted in significant battlefield gains. The local governor of Kharkiv noted that Russian forces have reduced their guided bomb attacks on border settlements in Ukraine’s northeastern region since last week’s incursion.
