Hezbollah Hits Israel with Drones, Vows More Attacks

Hezbollah Launches Drone Attacks on Israel, Promises More to Come

On Tuesday, Hezbollah and Israeli forces clashed, marking an escalation in the ongoing conflict. The mayor of Nahariya, a town on the Mediterranean coast in northern Galilee, reported that several projectiles breached Israeli airspace from Lebanon. The Israeli military confirmed that multiple civilians were injured.

Hezbollah claimed responsibility for launching drones at Israeli military facilities in retaliation for Israeli strikes on Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon on Monday. Lebanon’s National News Agency reported one fatality and another injury resulting from Israel’s attack.

Israel’s Focus Shifts to Hezbollah

The tension between Israel and Hezbollah, the Iran-backed Lebanese militant group, has surged over the past two weeks. Israel accused Hezbollah of a rocket attack that killed 12 children and teenagers in the Golan Heights, which is under Israeli control. In response, Israel targeted and killed a senior Hezbollah commander, Fuad Shukr, in Beirut.

Hezbollah, designated as a terrorist organization by the United States, declared that Shukr’s death was a breach of a red line and vowed retaliation. This development came shortly after a senior Hamas figure was assassinated in Tehran, with Hamas and Iran blaming Israel. Iran has pledged to retaliate, potentially coordinating with Hezbollah, a key proxy militia in the region.

Hezbollah’s attacks on Israel began soon after the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war in October. The group has stated that its actions are in solidarity with Palestinians and Hamas and will cease once a cease-fire is achieved in Gaza.
