Hezbollah has announced it has fired dozens of Katyusha rockets at Israel. The Iran-backed group claims the attack on Moshav Beit Hillel is a retaliation for Israel’s strikes on Kfar Kela and Deir Siriane in Lebanon, which they say injured civilians.
Many of the rockets were intercepted by Israel’s Iron Dome defense system. Israeli media reports indicate that around 50 rockets were launched from southern Lebanon towards upper Galilee. Video footage showed the Iron Dome system in action.
Hezbollah stated, “In solidarity with our resilient Palestinian people in Gaza and their courageous resistance, and in response to the Israeli attacks on the steadfast southern villages and safe homes, particularly the attacks on Kafr Kila and Deir Siryan which harmed civilians, the Islamic Resistance has included Beit Hillel in its fire schedule and bombarded it with dozens of Katyusha rockets for the first time.”
Israel has not yet commented on the situation. The situation is becoming increasingly tense, especially after the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran and the killing of Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr in an Israeli strike on Beirut. In response to the escalating crisis, the UK, US, and Australia have advised their citizens to evacuate Lebanon, and travelers are being cautioned against visiting Israel.
